Actress Alicia Witt is still trying to “wrap my head” around the sudden death of her parents, who were found dead in their Massachusetts home after she asked her cousin to check in when she couldn’t get in touch with them.
Robert Witt, 87, and Diane Witt, 75, were found dead Monday with no obvious signs of trauma, police told the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
Despite reports about trouble with their furnace that led them to use a space heater indoors, investigators found no abnormal levels of carbon monoxide.
Their deaths are not being considered suspicious.
“I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable,” Witt said in a statement Wednesday. “I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss.”
Witt, 46, made her acting debut at just 7 years old in David Lynch’s 1984 “Dune”; the pair reunited for an episode of “Twin Peaks” in which she played the younger sister of Lara Flynn Boyle’s character Donna, a role she reprised in the 2017 revival.
The Mass. native also had roles in “Cybill,” “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “Vanilla Sky” and “Two Weeks Notice.”
On the small screen, Witt had a two-episode arc on “The Walking Dead” and as Piper’s love interest on “Orange is the New Black.”
