In a display of bravery and sheer determination, a Florida MMA fighter found himself face to face with a formidable opponent – a 10-foot alligator.
The adrenaline-pumping encounter took place outside a Jacksonville elementary school, captivating nearly 200 cheering spectators who witnessed the extraordinary showdown.
Video footage of the event has since gone viral, capturing the heart-stopping moments of the encounter.
Amateur fighter Mike Dragich, 33, fearlessly took on the massive alligator in a parking lot near the school, with the crowd eagerly watching every move.
Clad in a muscle shirt, Dragich approached the beast and seized its tail, attempting to drag it away. The video showcases the intense struggle as the alligator fought back, evoking screams from the onlookers.
Undeterred, the valiant fighter armed himself with a catch pole and skillfully looped it around the reptile’s neck.
As the crowd held its breath, the alligator thrashed about, trying to free itself from the restraint. Yet, Dragich maintained his composure, evoking a sense of admiration and awe.
In a remarkable move reminiscent of a superhero, he leaped onto the alligator’s shoulders, accompanied by multiple Jacksonville firefighters, who joined the effort to subdue the powerful creature.

Recalling the daring encounter, Dragich expressed his adrenaline-fueled mindset, saying, “I felt like Batman, for real, you know.”
The fighter drew parallels between his experience in the cage and the intense situation he faced with the alligator.
He emphasized the importance of focus and concentration, likening it to the mindset required in the ring.
Florida is no stranger to encounters with alligators, with an estimated population of around 1.3 million statewide.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has guidelines in place for reporting “nuisance” alligators over four feet in length, which pose a threat to people, pets, or property.
Licensed trappers are dispatched to remove these alligators, which are subsequently euthanized to prevent their return to the capture location or disruption of alligator social structures elsewhere.
