A long-simmering Hollywood rumor just bubbled back up — and it’s apparently slammed the door on any chance of a friendly reunion between former teen stars Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff.
According to industry insiders, Muniz recently reignited old tension by claiming their friendship was damaged during the making of the 2003 spy comedy Agent Cody Banks. The alleged issue? Casting.
Sources say Muniz suggested that Duff landed the role thanks to her stage mom’s influence — and that he had wanted Kristin Kreuk to play his on-screen love interest instead.
The comments reportedly caught Duff completely off guard.
“Hilary was blindsided,” one industry source said. “She’s got three kids, a thriving career, and zero interest in revisiting teenage drama.”
Another insider was less charitable, claiming Muniz enjoys stirring up attention and reviving old storylines. “He’s using her name,” the source said. “No one’s really asking what he’s been up to lately.”
Muniz has publicly said he’d “love to catch up” with his former co-star, but insiders insist Duff has no interest in reopening that chapter.
“She’s not returning that call,” one source said flatly. “Not now. Not ever.”
While the feud may be frozen in time, Muniz has long since stepped away from Hollywood. In a recent interview, he reflected on leaving Los Angeles and the entertainment industry behind, saying the move helped him appreciate life in a way fame never did.
He ultimately relocated to Arizona, where he says he found peace away from the pressures of show business.
“I didn’t like L.A.,” Muniz previously said. “Moving away saved my life in the sense that I started enjoying the little aspects of life more.”
