Miami Hurricanes running back Mark Fletcher Jr. saw his season end in controversy after a postgame incident that quickly went viral.
Fletcher had been a major focus of ESPN’s broadcast throughout the game, even drawing attention earlier for a heartfelt moment in which he signed “Jesus loves you” in American Sign Language on the sideline.
But emotions boiled over after Miami’s loss.
As ESPN cameras continued rolling, Fletcher was caught in a heated confrontation with Indiana player Tyrique Tucker. Video shared on social media shows Fletcher throwing a punch at Tucker’s face and then continuing to charge toward him as teammates and staff tried to intervene.

What sparked the altercation remains unclear, but the fallout is likely just beginning. With the incident happening in full view of broadcast cameras, Fletcher is expected to face scrutiny from the NCAA and possibly additional discipline from the program.
Despite the ugly ending, Fletcher has already confirmed he plans to return to Miami next season. Still, the postgame punch could carry consequences that linger well beyond the final whistle, putting a shadow over what had otherwise been a high-profile night for the Hurricanes running back.
